I plan to build a PC by myself, need advice if the parts selected are not too good/bad in comparison to the rest of the machine before I buy them.

Approximate Purchase Date: Next week/two weeks

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Opening lots of programs, Gaming (Planetary Annihilation, Skyrim, Starcraft 2, Minecraft), Programming

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Monitor Resolution: 1920*1080 (Don't have it yet)

Parts Selected: PC Part Picker List

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 Haswell Quad-Core 3.2GHz
Motherboard: ASUS GRYPHON Z97
GPU: ASUS STRIX GeForce GTX 750 Ti
Case: Corsair Carbide Series Air 240
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB)
PSU: CORSAIR CSM Series 450W
SSD: Crucial BX100 CT500BX100SSD1 2.5" 500GB

Additional Comments/Questions:
I usually play games that are heavy on the processor and don't care about graphics as much, but would like a GPU that can run at least my favorite games at highest quality.
I often launch many programs simultaniously therefore the 16gb ram (imagine 10 chrome tabs + modded minecraft server+client).
Asus Gryphon is supposedly good for long term builds, and I don't plan to switch rigs in the next 3-4 years. Some upgrades (especially GPU) might happen in a year though. It has a lot of features for cooling that I don't think I need, is this a hint it's way better then it needs to be?
Also since I won't overcloak, is the stock cooling enough?
I don't really understand the differences between memory models, so feel free to recommend better suiting models if applicable.
I have a big external HDD for rarely used files. Are SSDs reliable enough for constant usage over some years or should I get an additional HDD?

Z97 board, such as that one, with a locked CPU is overkill. You are overspending in areas, that you shouldn't at the cost of performance. I could have went with a better GPU, but kept the SLI capability. The GTX 750ti doesn't support it, and the GTX 960 does.
