Hi, thanks in advance for all of your time. :)

So I am building myself a new gaming rig, I'm investing a very considerable amount of money into it and I want to get as much out of my investment as I can. I'm fairly knowledgeable but I'm hoping that people that are more knowledgeable can help me out a bit.

First of all, specs of the system to date:
Mobo: MSI X99 UD3P
CPU: i7 5930k
Ram: 4x4gb 2800mhz
3TB hdd

So I'm considering primarily the 980ti's, after looking at the comparison of the 980ti's from here I would be initially inclined to go with the zotac AMP! Extreme with it's impressive 1355mhz over clock. However, I'm planning on learning how to overclock my card, I figure since I'm going balls to the wall I might as well get with the times and learn to overclock. So this brings me to my question, in terms of overclocking performance does it make sense to buy a card that is already over clocked? Will the overhead on that zotac card be smaller than a reference card? Should I instead prioritize a card with superior cooling and ignore factory overclocking?

Also, the fury came out recently which I was initially excited about because of the considerably lower load temps. However, I was disappointed to learn that these exceptionally low load temps didn't allow for aggressive over clocking! Is this a problem that may be corrected with driver updates in the future or would I be be off avoiding the fury? I'm not interested in it unless I can overclock it considerably.

Oh, and also also, the Zotac AMP! Extreme reviews I've read indicated that the form factor is different than a regular graphics card? Does this mean that it will physically block its neighbor PCI slots in the mobo? Not that I plan on SLIing a pair of them, but the inability to do so may factor into my decision making process. Limiting future potential and all that.

Like I said, thanks in advance for your advice! 😀
