advice for Ubiquiti Nanostation equivalent for long distance wifi

I'm on a boat, and need to access a variety of wifi networks on shore (sometimes a mile away). I'm presently using a Ubiquiti Nanostation II. It's connected via an Ethernet cable to an Apple Airport Extreme which in turn provides a wifi connection to several computers on board.

I'm fed up with the Nanostation (not the least of which is their lack of technical support) and am wondering if there are any other competing devices that I should try out.

Engenius make similar product. You can also try some of the other product lines from ubiquiti. The nanostation is pretty small unit they have much longer range stuff like their airgrid
