Guys
I need advice selecting a low profile cooler for my new HTPC. I am using a Silverstone tek GD09 case that only has 138mm of cooling clearance. This severely limits my options and to top it off I am using Adata 2400mhz Ramhttp://www.amazon.com/ADATA-USA-Series-19200-AX3U2400W4G11-DGV/dp/B00DOP2P2Y.
I was looking at the Noctua NH-C14 but not sure it can dissipate the 125w of power from the cpu.

Also looking at the Cooler master GeminII S524 Ver2 and Zakman CNPS8900 Quite.
I do not think water cooled is an option with this case as its very congested. Unless the cooling option had long tubing that could get to the opposite side of the case.
What are your guys thoughts. Looking for assistance selecting the best option.

What is the processor that you have?
Here is a list:
Noctua NH-L12 http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=46&lng=en&set=1
Silverstone SST-NT06-PRO Nitrogon http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=368
Xigmatek Cobra D984 http://www.xigmatek.com/product.php?productid=15&type=specification

To be honest I think the Noctua NH-C14 is the best option for you, but if you plan to overclock it then you will need 2 fans on the Noctua NH-C14

Water under the bridge but an A10-7800K and Micro ATX FM2+ board would have fit the bill perfectly. 65 watts, strong igpu and Kaveri has surprisingly good ipc compared to Piledriver. 8350's really need a full ATX board with 8+2 phase power so they don't thermally throttle.

Guys
I am using a fx-8350 cpu. I know the pc is overkill for htpc but it's also my son's gaming rig. Only put in htpc case to blend in to home theater equipment racks where my i920 htpc / pc is also mounted. Heat is issue with amd as stock cooler is a very loud during his minecraft games.

So looking for a better cooling solution. New case not option as towers will not fit room space constraints.

Thanks

An 8350 will cook a Micro ATX board with 4+1 phase power in short order. Best case scenario is you only get wicked thermal throttling so the motherboard doesn't catch fire.

Guys

Here is the full PC setup

CPU: AMD FX-8350
Mem: Adata 8Gig 2400mHz
MB: Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0
Cooler: Stock AMD
GC: Asus R9270X 2gig
Case: Silverstone tek GD09 with 3x 120mm Fans

Motherboard should not fry from the requirements of the CPU, but the stock cooler gets loud at full out gaming on my son's minecraft mods. Just want something that keeps temp down and is quieter. Case limits cooler height to 138mm and memory makes it look like the Noctua will not fit on top of ram. so looking for a little advice.

Too bad it happens all the time.
