Here is my dilemma,
I have a Gaming PC, Synology Nas, Rasp Pi 3.

I would like to run a 24/7 Torrent Seed Box and Plex Server. The Rasp Pi has been slow and a pain in the rear to set up. I do not want to run the Gaming PC 24/7 to save some cash on electricity.

Should I just build an HTPC that I can run 24/7 that does not use a lot of energy? I just feel that it is overkill to have the NAS Hosting all of the files when I can just consolidate this into one device.....ug help me out with some suggestions. The Gaming PC has a 1500W PSU with a GTX 970 GPU.

Solution
You will probably use the same amount, if not more energy, by running a separate HTPC running 24/7 instead of using your gaming rig as the server. Either way you run it, the server will be running 24/7. It will be using the same amount of watts no matter what. Just because you have a 1500 watt PSU, does not mean your system is consuming 1500 watts. That is just what it is capable of. In fact, I am quite sure your gaming rig with a 970 is using under 500 watts.

If you want your system to be more energy efficient, get a quality gold rated PSU from Seasonic, EVGA, or Corsair. The Seasonic Focus Gold PSUs and the EVGA G2/G3 are excellent PSUs that are very efficient.
