I'm quite the noob when it comes to overclocking (I built my own pc and know the basic pc stuff). So I was wondering if I should even try overclocking with this rig, and how much can I get out of the cpu with these parts:

CPU: FX-4300 (duh)
GPU: Radeon R9 270 Sapphire Dual-X 2GB OC Edition (don't know it this matters or not)
MB: Asus M5A97 R2.0
PSU: XFX Core Edition PRO 550W
CPU cooler: Hyper 212 EVO
*e: RAM: 8 GB (2x4GB) HyperX Fury DDR3 1600MHz

Any help is appreciated!

With that system spec you could go as high as the CPU will actually manage .

You have a great PSU, a decently capable cooler & an at least semi-decent board.

4.4/4.5ghz is when you generally start to have to hit big voltage hikes & it becomes nonsensical to push higher IMO.

Limit yourself to 1.4v at the max & see what clock speed you can hit.

Thanks matt! I'll look further into overclocking now that I know my parts can handle it 😀
