Hello,

My setup is:
Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-3770 (3.4GHz) 8MB Cache
Motherboard ASUS® P8Z77-M: MICRO-ATX, USB 3.0, SATA 6GBs, ATI®CrossFireX
Memory (RAM) 8GB SAMSUNG DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 4GB)
Graphics Card 2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 670
Power Supply 450W Quiet 80 PLUS Dual Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan

I pretty much only ever play, WoW, SC2, OW, HotS, HS, Diablo 3 and maybe some LoL. I dont do any other tasks on my pc apart from browsing and backing up my iPhone lol-I basically use it as a console.

I have noticed of late it struggles with WoW at high settings and have had to turn it down a fair bit, the gfx card was exceeding 90 degrees in the most extreme cases.

So, in short I would like to know how worthy it is of just upgrading one or two components or is it high time for a whole new rig? to be honest if it's just the latter I'll suffer the performance (I really don't have enough money for a £2000 rig.

Thanks in advance
W

First, if a component is overheating it may throttle down in an attempt to cool off. So I'd run MSI Afterburner or other program that allows me to watch onscreen the GPU temps and clockspeeds as I play. If, when the temps go up, you see clockspeeds dipping down then this is your problem. In that case you might be able to fix things simply by bringing those temps under control. Replacing the GPU thermal paste for instance.

If the videocard is dying a slow death then replacing it is what you need to do. A 1050 Ti will get you similar performance, with the benefit that the extra vram will mean you won't lose performance by raising settings. A 1060 3gb will get you a bump in performance and allow higher settings.

Unless your CPU is also...
Everything there is still pretty capable. With what you say you do, I would really only suggest a new GPU. Assuming you have the 2gb version, WoW and other titles like that really like more than 4gb of VRAM. You can usually find yourself a 1050Ti for a halfway decent price, given Etherium hasn't put them through the roof like everything else yet. Still a good processor, and the RAM is alright. I don't see much point in doing anything besides a GPU upgrade.

Unless your CPU is also overheating, which MSI Afterburner will also show, then you should be fine in terms of CPU power.
