Sorry if this is a double post - when I closed the post, I couldn't find it after logging in.

I am going to upgrade my PC (keeping my current SATA hard drive and my DVD Rom) and I wanted to get advice on the parts I've chosen. I'm doing this on a budget, so please don't suggest to me a top end i7 as these are well out of my price range. This PC is used for The Sims 3, Witcher 1 & 2, Crysis and occasionally other small games as well as general computing/office and university work for my daughter. I need to know if this is a good upgrade, if the parts are all compatible and what kind of performance I can expect.

Hey,

Those specs are MORE than enough, more like a mid-high gaming machine :)

As for the PSU, no need for anything over 500w. I'd recommend to look at something from Corsair, XFX or Seasonic as they are probably the best and most reliable PSUs out there (and come with 5 or 7yr warranty)

If you want top spend a bit less then the A10-5800k APU would be the way to go (with the correct motherboard), no need to purchase a graphics card then BUT you will not get the same graphics processing as from the 7870.

A step up would be same system but with a FX-4300/6100/8350
