Hi all,

So i'm a novice PC builder and i just built my very first PC. The specs are as follows;

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-core MSI MPG Gaming Edge Wifi ATX AM4 Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16GB DDR4-3200 Sabrent Rocket 512GB M.2-2280 NVME SSD Seagate Barracuda Compute 2TB 3.5" PowerColor Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB Corsair RM (2019) 850W 80+ Gold

I installed everything (using a static mat with a grounding bracelet) and proceeded to install windows 10 ISO. Everything was working great; good FPS on games and generally good performance (at least i'd say so; i've never PC gamed before!).

Then the other day i clicked on the "MSI Dragon Centre" App and was messing around trying to get my fans and RAM to sync up. When i clicked on the Downloads tab at the bottom;

)

So i proceeded to download the updates and downloaded the BIOS update. The computer then restarted and wouldn't boot up. Power would go to the motherboard and fans would turn, RGB would work etc. But it wouldn't power my Mouse or my Keyboard and i would be met with a black, blank, screen.

Que the panic.

After a quick bit of research i found that removing the CMOS battery can resolve almost any issues (including a black screen when rebooting following supposed BIOS update).

Thankfully this worked and my PC has worked since. touch wood

However, there has been a couple of times where the PC has frozen (Google chrome) and today it seemed to crash for some strange reason.

I also no longer get the "edge" Logo on boot up. ( View: https://imgur.com/gallery/a2CrV3y
- in case you don't know what i mean).

I've run Countless health checks on the PC (all came back fine) and i even ran the Perfmon /report Results here - View: https://imgur.com/gallery/CJiMkuF

I also ran a benchmark on my PC this morning with Userbenchmark.com Here are the results: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/21143536

I should also mentioned that i haven't activated windows as of yet (i'm waiting until i get paid to do so).

My questions are;

Does everything appear to be running fine on my PC? Why does the RAM seem to not be performing well according to userbenchmark? Will the issue of the BIOS update (and subsequent crash of the PC) have ruined it?

Should i update the BIOS for my motherboard? - if so How do i do this safely? My current Bios (according to msinfo32) is; American Megatrends inc. 1.20 28/06/2019 https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/MPG-X570-GAMING-EDGE-WIFI - this is the drivers available for my MB.

I hope this has made sense. Please tell me if there is anything else you need to help.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and please help calm my anxiety!

Why does the RAM seem to not be performing well according to userbenchmark?
Because you do not have XMP/DOCP enabled, so you have 3200 RAM that's only running at 2133 default.

Should i update the BIOS for my motherboard? - if so How do i do this safely?
If you are encountering a problem - probably - if not, then no. Don't fix what isn't broken. As for doing it safely, just follow the instructions and ensure that the PC does not lose power.

The tests you have run don't really check for any hardware problems, just more get a feel for how the hardware is running, but nothing more.

Is the freezing an issue you're still encountering?
I would download all drivers directly from the manufacturers site.
