Advice on a 2500 gaming PC

Hi i am looking at getting a new gaming pc to last at least the next few years
Its my first time building one and i would like to know what everyone's thoughts were about this build

Budget Range: roughly looking around 2500 NZD

System Usage from Most to Least Important: games, movies, work

Parts Not Required: I have a Cd key for windows 8 pro x64 and a mouse

Overclocking: I will probably experiment with over clocking after i have gained a little experience with the build

SLI or Crossfire: unlikely

Monitor Resolution: currently 1080p but will upgrade to 4k when priced come down

Additional Comments: I might hold off on the graphics card as i hear the gtx 870 will be out soon

Excellent build, although the corsair dominator ram is too expensive for what it is, I would suggest getting some G.SKILL Ripjaws X. Oh and if it's only for gaming, you would benefit more by getting an i5-4690k and pairing it with a 780 or 290(X). Or get the i7 and 780 by getting the cheaper ram...

I would get the H100i cooler personally.

Also, the 1150 platform does not support quad channel RAM, hence the 4x4 GB is slower. Look for a 2x8 GB kit.

The H110 performs better and is quieter. And indeed, it will run better with 2x8gb sticks, even though you probably won't notice the difference.

or just get a noctua dh 14, it's nearly twice as cheap and offers similar performance

That's a good option too, but I wouldn't say it performs as well as the H110 or H100i. The NH-D15 does, it beats the H100i, and offers performance on par with the H110.

being a bit obsessed with looks i went with the vengeance pro ram as its black (the bright blue might have been a bit much) and with the cpu cooler i wanted to try keep it out of the way (im not really into the look of the big air coolers)

I was also thinking about the asrock Fatal1ty Z97X Killer mother board as its cheaper would that be a better board to get?

For good looks you can get the corsair dominator ram? it has leds 😀 And The asus z97 sabertooth mk1 with thermal armour looks the best imo, if not the best looking z97 board

No, not at all, if anything I think it's better, it fits into almost any colour scheme as the colour on the motherboard is neutral whereas the hero is red/black, and the Command Center Bios I hear is very good

Both motherboards are very good, I personally prefer the hero as it also fits my color scheme, but the sabertooth is also a great choice. And that ram will be just fine. would it be worthwhile paying the extra 110 to upgrade to the r290x?
i was thinking of waiting till the gtx8xx come out to buy the graphics card as the 880 would probably be a powerful as the 780ti albeit quite a bit cheaper

Definitely not, the r9 290X Tri-X is actually about $50 more expensive, you were probably looking at the vapor-x. The Tri-X could be a good option, but I would probably get the 780. (or the 880 if you want to wait.)

yes, when the 800 series come out they will knock down the 700 series' prices, so it's advised to wait and not get a gpu now

went with the deliminator mainly for the lights although it does have lower latency than the vengeance as a bonus
And i should be able to get a few hundred off the system looking at prices on price spy but i will wait for the gtx 880 to come out
cant wait to start getting bits ready now though
