Question from dammy222 : "Advice on a build upgrade with AMD Ryzen 7"

Hello,
I'm planning to upgrade my build from 2013 as I start using my desktop again. My build currently uses i5-4670K and no external GPU. I use my computer for mostly software development (including data processing, image processing, etc). I also use it for some 3D CAD (Autodesk/Blender) and image editing with GIMP. Would like to keep this upgrade below $500 and not need to upgrade CPU/Mobo anytime soon.

Here are the parts I plan to REUSE from the current build:

Case (Micro ATX): https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147023
CD Drive: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204
WIFI: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704162
PSU (Corsair CX430M): https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139049
SSD_1: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147188
SSD_2: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A1ZTZNM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Here are the NEW parts I am considering:

CPU (Ryzen 7 2700): https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113498&ignorebbr=1
MOBO: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157843&ignorebbr=1
Graphics: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=1FT-001K-00003&ignorebbr=1
RAM: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231886&ignorebbr=1

Note for GPU: I think the most demanding task for the GPU will be my 3D CAD program. My laptop has a GeForce 940MX with 2GB and that seems to be good enough (for the most part) so hoping to get at least that level of performance with this build. I know for sure the integrated GPU in the i5-4670K is not good enough.

Note for CPU: I'll probably be okay with a Ryzen 5 but 2 more cores for $50 extra seems like a good deal and is more future proof.

Will this combo work well? Would appreciate any advice. Thanks

Looks like the B450 will work too and is cheaper than the X470? I've updated the initial post

For the price you would have to pay for either one of the SSDs you have listed you could get a 500gb Crucial MX500 and then either a 1 or 2tb mechanical HD.
