I'm building a new gaming PC for the first time in 7 years and I'm waaay out of practice, can anyone tell me if the following specs look ok?

The 3800x isn't worth it over the 3700x and also the 212 evo isn't a great cooler.

Its a decade old design and was only ever popular because it's cheap.

You need a good 140mm cooler for a ryzen 7 full stop.

Nzxt h510? No change it seriously, it's awful cooling wise with high powered components.

I had the 212 for my current build and never had issues, but I'll look into it, thanks What case would you recommend instead? And I'm buying from amazon.

I ran a 212 evo on an fx 8350 too for around 8 years and it did a good job.

It is however not good enough for a 3000 series ryzen 7!

You do not need a 140mm cooler for Ryzen 7. Plenty do fine with the stock heatsink, but yes go with the Ryzen 3700x. The 212 is ok, and better than stock. There are better coolers out there though. What is the budget, for this system?

It might be a few months before you can buy one but I think you should wait for the RTX 3070, we don't know for sure but if Nvidia even speaks a tiny bit of truth you should wait for the RTX 3070. Also, I would swap out the hyper 212 for an NH-d15 or NH-d15 black, you might need that cooling for the CPU you picked out (especially if you want to overclock.) The case you picked out and everything else about your build is awesome though.

At present this is about £1600. If I eat into my savings a little more I could go up to £2000 but really just want something to game on that will last a good few years.

A 3800x doesn't need that huge cooler. I have run one off of a Deepcool Gammax 400, and it handled it, just fine. Got a good deal on a customer return, at microcenter, so it was worth getting, as it was cheaper. A larger cooler doesn't hurt, but it isn't 100% necessary. Keep in mind, Ryzen 4th gen comes out next month.

This is rock solid performance wise, case wouldn't be my personal first choice but from amazon I don't see anything better at reasonable prices.

Curry's have the rmx 650 for £97 delivered, it's worth the extra over the txm, one of the best psu's around!

My suggestion for the GPU, if a temp card, would be second hand. GTX 1080 are being sold as low as 200 GBP and still a very strong card for 1080p gaming.

people come here and complain about temp with that combination cpu and cpu cooler...my advice avoid that cooler buy better
