Im thinking about building 4k 60hz 16:9 Pc. I will play mostly cinematic games with it.
Should I go with current gen hardware or wait next gen? I can afford waiting a year, but is it worth it?
I either build a;
Am4 b550 motherboard
ryzen 9 5900x
rtx 3080(waiting for prices to fall more)
2x16 3600mhz cl16
or at q3/q4 2022(supposedly);
Am5 with supposedly coming ryzen 6000 series zen 4
rtx 4080 or rx 7800
ddr5 will probably be too expensive at beginning, and if new motherboards come with am5 and ddr5 then they will probably also support ddr4 at beginning so I will still buy ddr4 for it then upgrade to ddr5 probably 1-2 year after its release on market.

My question basically : Is it worth waiting for next gen? No one knows how they will perform compared to current gen but what are your predictions? Or can rtx 3080 with a r9 5900x carry me for 4 years at 4k?

That is almost certainly NOT going to be the case.

Different levels of DDR are physically different. Positioning slot in a different location. DDR3 will not fit in a DDR4 slot, etc, etc.
The same will hold true for DDR5.

There were a very few boards that had slots for both DDR2 and DDR3. Very few, and only one type at a time.
