Hi, until now i thought i was going to get the EK Water Blocks EK-XRES 140 D5 PWM incl. Pump however i found out that apparently the tubing which it uses, the 1/4 is "extinct" is this true is there a reason for this? i was keen on getting this pump however, am not so sure now. Is it still fine? if so what make of tubing should i use?

Also if it necessary to have a backplate for my 2 970's if i am watercooling them? as they are not available in the UK atm?

thanks

Yup, two of those would be ok, because you have more radspace than needed, it allows you to run fans slower so you get a quieter running system overall, all of my rads are 8fpi and silent so even double the fpi is still going to allow for a quiet setup and at 40ish quid I'm tempted to get a couple myself hehe

1/4 refers to the threads that your fittings screw into on the pump and is a standard size, also known as G1/4 so as long as your threaded part of the fitting is that youre fine, the other measurement 1/2 for instance is the tubing size so g1/4 one side, 1/2 the other means youll use 1/2" internal diameter tubing, and whilst backplate are neater and offer a degree or two cooling for the rear of the card there arent essential, have a look in the sticky for more info on everything wc related though 🙂

thanks a lot for the speedy reply. What terminal would you recommend for the 2 970's?

Also should i get 1 3.120 radiator or 2 3.120 rads?

I go for over-radding which simply put means more rad than is actually required for a dual Gpu and cpu loop Id have two 360s or triple rads, you dont 'need' that much but thats what id have if it were mine and I am unfamiliar with fullcover blocks for that card but I'm sure a google will reveal some info on whats popular, I use universal blocks on my cards and modded things so theyre not 'normal' watercooled cards at all 🙂
