Advice on an appropriate CPU

Hi, I was wondering if I could have some advice on a decent processor. I'm building my first PC in a long time, and I wanted a good processor as a base that could be upgraded in the future with a dedicated graphics card, should I choose to play games on the machine.

The main purpose of the PC would be generally computing and things like video editing and graphic design. I hear more cores are better for applications like that?

I had been thinking of maybe getting one of AMd's APUs because they could offer a low end entry point for gaming and with okay CPU speed, however if I was to install a graphics card I'm assuming that on board graphics would essentially be a waste of money as the card would take over. On the other hand I was also thinking of installing an fx 6300 and then a really cheap graphics card for now which I could swap out later if needs be.

I want to spend under £100 really and any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks! (As you can I don't know much about the whole thing so sorry if I've said anything stupid.)

For editing Intel are generally better /unless you are using Sony Vegas/, but if you have to settle for a budget combination the FX 6300 + the GTX 750 Ti is the most economic solution I can come up with.
