Advice on budget Ryzen or skylake

I have the chance of picking up an i5 6400 for £80 ($100) with a z170 for £40 ($50) or Ryzen 5 1500x for £130($167) with a gigabyte B350 gaming 3 for £65($83) and I don't know what to choose it's to pair with a 980 as my current athlon 860k doesn't cut it.

The $150 solution you have is cheaper, and will play games great with a 980.


Edit: The Ryzen solution will allow you to upgrade to Ryzens next generation CPU's. So it depends if you want to upgrade to a 6 or 8 core CPU later, and next generation then Ryzen is the better option. Ryzen will game great with a 980 as well.

The 1500X is easily the better CPU, but I don't know if it's £75 better.

Right so say I got a £30 cheaper mobile on the Ryzen meaning I can't OC it would it be more or less worth it.
