Advice on buying a 1080 right now or waiting a few more week?

Hello,

I'm aiming a build soon and finalizing a gpu. I have been able to narrow down to three gtx 1080,
Zotac Amp Edition - $500
Gigabyte Windforce - $470
Asus Rog Strix 1835Mhz - $530

They are all around the $~500 mark. Considering the new RTX have hit the market, should I wait a few more weeks to buy the 1080 as it is my understanding that the prices for 1080 should go down, or just buy one asap avoiding the risk that they might be out of stock if I wait too long.

Also, out of the three cards mentioned above, which one will be your suggestion? Considering I'm thinking of pairing them up with a Ryzen 2700x.

Thank you in advance.

P.S. This is my first ever build, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
Wait a few weeks for the AMD RX 600 series to come out, along with the RTX 2070. Then you will see MAJOR price drops after those. That is what I am doing, in fact, except with an EVGA 1070.

Do you expect the RX 600 series to match or beat the 1080? I'm sorry but I haven't kept an eye on AMD GPU news.

I never even said that. I said that when the 600 series comes out, there will be price drops. Just like after any GPU release, no matter what company made it. The RTX cards are very underwhelming to say the least, yet the 1070 went from 500-600 bucks down to around 350 just in the last month and a half.

I'm sorry, I understood it wrong.

Thanks for the clarification.

One more thing, out of the three mentioned cards, which one do you suggest?

The Windforce as long as your case and PSU can accommodate it. You will likely see the clocks(1835 for example) go above their stock levels automatically due to Nvidia's GPU Boost.

At $470 I'd purchase it today.

It is rumoured that the RX 600 series will manfactured on the TSMC 12nm process and should be about 10% to 15% faster than the RX 500 series.
Maybe more depending on the memory bandwidth spec.
But other than that, it will be identical to the RX 500 series.
It's supposed to be launching in October (!)
Though maybe this will just be a paper launch.
100% rumours at present.
