Hi all, I need some of your expert opinions and some help, please.

I am thinking of getting a new mouse and keyboard and I have some options in mind I want to try. I just am not sure some are actually good reading the reviews. I primarily play FPS games I guess and multiplayer online.

Here are three mice I was considering.
  • Corsair Sabre Pro Champion series
    • What I like is the polling rate and the fact it allows for incremental DPI changes by 1 point. Now does that matter for DPI? Probably not much, but I want to know what it feels like to be that precise. I get salty I can't adjust most by increments of 20 or 10.
  • EVGA X12
    • What I like here is the polling rate and it has two buttons on both sides of the mouse. I could use those.
  • Razer Death Adder V3
    • Why a Razer? Well, I use a Basilisk V3 right now and have been for almost two years I think. I like it enough, but Razer software is bloatware. I find a lot of software to be that way these days unfortunately. The Death Adder V3 has a good sensor and optical buttons.
My thoughts that I would buy them all and try them out, but is there any reason why I should rule any of them out? Or, if you have better options that I am unaware of. To be clear, I like the fact some can poll up to 8k. I don't think I would end up using the 8k and the advantage would mostly be unperceivable to me playing for the most part. I play on a 144khz monitor.

Here are some keyboards:

Hi, thanks for allowing questions. I really could use some help.

  • EVGA Z20 RGB.
    • It seems to have decent reviews for its price range. I read some reviews and I am not sure they helped me tremendously. If anyone has experience with this keyboard, can they tell me what they think? I know some say it's meh, but what I like is the fact it has optical switches and has support for 4000hz polling.
  • Mizar MZ60 Luna 60% optical red.
    • They sell it with other types like yellow and silver, but I have no experience with any yellow or silver switches. Not sure if those are more what I would want. I like linear and fast. I like that us has Gateron optical switches and it has a polling rate of 3000hz.
  • ROCCAT Vulcan Pro Linear Optical
    • This is an alternative to the EVGA. I know it polls lower, but it has okay reviews.

This keyboard would be strictly for gaming. I type on an ergonomic keyboard, and I have Kailh brown switches in that currently and I have a small crappy one handed keyboard that I will play on.

I can't spend a huge amount on the keyboard right now and get a Steel Series Apex Pro or anything right now.

Am I missing something with the reviews? Please offer any advice you can!

Thanks.

No-one can answer you that, since people feel KB/mice differently and value different metrics.

Your best option is to read reviews, whereby KB/mice have been reviewed by the same person. This, at least, would tell you quality differences between the two, but that's about it. How KB/mice sits under the hand, how much force is needed for key press, how quiet/loud the sound is etc <- all that is individual preference and can't be taken into account when choosing a KB/mice.

All peripherals and PC cases, that have to do with individual taste and feel, can't be suggested accurately by other people, since other people suggest hardware based on their own, personal requirements, which, often doesn't align or even match yours.

For example, my personal taste, with;
KB - mechanical with 45g actuation force. Meaning either Cherry MX Red or MX Silent. Since i value quietness, i went with MX Silent, which is same as MX Red but ~30% quieter. Also, i don't need any macro keys on my KB. Oh, but i do require full-sized KB with QWERTY layout. Currently using Corsair Strafe RGB with Cherry MX Silent switches and Nordic layout. Specs: https://www.corsair.com/eu/en/p/key...aming-keyboard-cherry-mx-silent-ch-9000121-na

Mice - optical sensor with at least 1000 Hz polling rate and at least 5 programmable buttons over the standard 3. Also need thumb rest. Was using Corsair Sabre RGB before but switched to Corsair Nightsword RGB for better feel/use. Btw, i don't care about the added weights it has, since i like my mouse to be light, ~100g. Specs: https://www.corsair.com/eu/en/p/gam...unable-fps-moba-gaming-mouse-eu-ch-9306011-eu

Since i have my peripherals in Corsair ecosystem, i can easily create game specific macro profiles, which activate as soon as i launch the game. Makes it far more convenient, than using default profile and/or changing things around every single time.

+1 on @Aeacus feedback.

To narrow down to what you have listed, as it seems that is what you are interested in.
  • Mice - Razer DeathAdder V3
  • Keyboard - EVGA Z20
The Razer DeathAdder V3 is one of the best mice on the market and would be my option over the other two any day if that was my only choices. Personally, which is my own preference, I would run a Pulsar X2 or LAMZU Atlantis mouse over your original list. The Pulsar X2 is coming out soon with an updated 4K (or even maybe 8K) mouse soon.

I have and used the EVGA Z20 keyboard when it originally came out then EVGA gave half off when you were part of the "club". I enjoyed and it worked just fine. I just moved away from it when I got in the hobby of custom mechanical keyboards so I've been using those over the EVGA keyboard. Still in my closet and a back-up, if ever needed.

Nothing like walking down that aisle and trying each one in person.
This is how i settled on Cherry MX Red/Silent.

On paper, Cherry MX Brown sounded nice, with it's tactile bump. But trying it out on store, i didn't like the tactile bump at all. :vomi:
Cherry MX Black was way hard to press for my feel and i went with Cherry MX Red, since that felt the most comfortable. One step beyond was Cherry MX Silent, back then, exclusive to Corsair KBs only. Hence why i bought my Strafe RGB.

Price wise, it was quite a big leap. Went from €10 membrane PS/2 KB to €178 mechanical USB KB. :mouais: I still think i payed premium over my KB. Then again, it's durability is exceptional and it offers quite a lot of nice features, making me feel better about the price. :)

Admittedly, I am probably the last person to ask about "nice" keyboards and mice. The last good game oriented keyboard I had was a MS Sidewinder. I do lament my messing that one one (cleaning incorrectly). I typically buy the "Dell Business Class" composites. Right now Logitech has a set of corded for sub $13 that work well enough and when they go wrong, get too dirty, labels wear off they go in the trash and get new ones.
My home setup is geared towards working on mutiple devices, so I went muti-device Logi Craft and the Flow type mouse. I love it, but is sure not for everyone.

I game on an Xbox controller almost 100% now, so just no need.

Kailh Brown.
Anti Ghosting on all buttons.

I paid it 85 or so Euros.
There was cheaper offer , but I was thinking too much and it went away.

Top buttons constantly being colour red is simply incorest
