Hi all,

So I need some help and advice please.

I currently own 8 x AF120's 3 pin.

I am going to be getting an X570 board of some sort, With lets say 4 headers.

Of course i am best to use a fan hub, But would you say it is worth me getting rid of these 3 pins for 4 pins or am i safe with the 3 pins?

If it helps, I am not bothered running all fans at the same speed in sync, I just dont want full speed at all times.

Thank you

I'd say it'd be worth it since 4 pin fans are going to be PWM which means you can recycle the fans on another build should you choose to change the build or the fans later down the road. Yes the other side is that regardless of which fans you stick to, I'd advise on getting a fan hub. Something similar to what Phanteks make.

That's where you should, having the same amount of air being exhausted as the intake will give you favorable temps.

It's trickier, but Lutfij did hit the right spot with that suggestion. As a general rule, you can NOT use with 3-pin fans a fan HUB that gets all it fans' power from the CPU. Their speed can NOT be controlled by almost all Hubs because those depend on having only 4-pin fans attached. BUT the new Phanteks Universal Fan Controller model PH-PWHUB_02 DOES work with 3-pin fans because, for its three 3-pin output ports, it "translates" the PWM signal system into the older Voltage Control Mode required by those older fans. The only "trick" is that you have six such fans, and it has three such ports. You need to buy also three simple 2-output Splitters so you can connect two fans each to those three ports.
