Advice on Gaming Computer with plans for 4k

Ok, so i've already purchased the core of what I could get with my current budget, not 4k ready yet but it's the what i'm using to get by till probably after christmas time.

Intel i5-6600K
ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero z170 board
16gb of G.SKILL DDR4-2400 (i think 2400..)
MSI GTX 970 100ME

So, I honestly don't know the first thing about 4k gaming and really don't know what I will actually need hardware wise but here are the main parts i'm planning to go with after looking over a lot of guides on what 4k will require..

GPU - upgrade the GTX970 to a GTX 980Ti (possibly SLI them later on down the road)
CPU - Should I go up to the i7-6700K? I will probably do it anyways (I have a lot of extra spending money these days...)
RAM - Going to 32GB of G.SKILL, gonna be DDR4-3000 or up (will decide on actual speed and model when the time comes)
Monitor - Going with the ASUS PB287Q unless something else comes along in the next couple months that blows it out of the water..

Now, my main questions..
- Should I stick with the 980Ti and possibly SLI two, or should I just go all out and get a Titan Z (for basically the price of two 980Ti's..).
- Is the cpu upgrade really worth it when it comes to gaming..? The i5 will be o/c'd and from what i've read they're easy to push to 4.6 and further with air, I will be running a water cooling setup before I bust down the $ for the 4k upgrades..
- This one is more of a general ? but will really take hold when I start to go to the 4k setup.. How much power supply do I really need for the GPU I will be using? I've read and watch countless things on how much is enough and also know that more is not always better. My initial purchase (which is due here tomorrow, super excited FYI..) is going with a 750w Corsair RM750i 80+ gold and i'm wondering if bumping up to a 980Ti will be to much for it (i'm sure it will with SLI..). So when I do the 4k GPU should I bump up the PSU to a 1000w?

I think those are all the ?'s I had revolving around going to 4k gaming.. Any advice is appreciated!

I recommend no less than gtx 980ti for 4k gaming. You could sli 970, but not worth it considering 980ti performs as good and you can duck the issues with sli. I have had both setups and I like the single 980 ti way better than my sli 980ti rig. Anything more than 16 gb is overkill for gaming. Monitor is good one so no complaints there. Don't get titan z. Sli 980ti is ideal for 4k gaming but hard to recommend considering $1300 price tag. I would also recommend going with a x99 motherboard and i7 5820k to avoid cpu bottleneck. Wattage? 750w is fine with single gtx 980 ti or sli 970. I recommend 1000w for sli 980ti. Lastly, my 4k tv (Vizio e series) and sli 970 don't seem to play well together (occasional green flickering forcing me to...

Thanks for a quick reply!
Yea I didn't have any intention of sticking with the 970 for the 4k.. The 970 is being purchased so I can continue gaming while I save for the 4k items (my current comp is quite outdated and can't do what I want). I planned on a single or dual 980Ti really. I also don't wanna drop 1300+ on my GPU but I also want great 4k performance... So if a single 980Ti can handle it well I will stick with that.

As for swapping out to the x99 and 5820, that would be quite a big expense considering I will be building off the initial purchased MB and, correct me if i'm wrong.. but there really shouldn't be any significant issues (meaning I could play 4k at good FPS) with the z170 and i5 or i7 skylake CPU. I went with these honestly because they became available at the exact time I was purchasing all this (I was picking parts for a few days and suddenly the new 6th gen intels were advertised on newegg so I picked a build around that CPU..) Would building it on an x99 and haswell platform really have a noticable effect on 4k gaming?

For memory, I will be going to a 32 gig 4 DIMM setup simply because I can honestly.. I do run some video encoding/editing as well so I would like to have enough to future proof anything if i'm playing with 4k game screen recordings.

And for the PSU, perfect.. I was kinda worried a 980Ti might be a big much GPU for a 750w. I figured if I went SLI I would need around a 1000w so if I do buy the second GPU i'll consider the PSU upgrade cost with that..

And btw, there really is no real "budget" here.. I'm hoping to hit a cap at around $4000 all in.. monitor and new GPU included. Right now my setup will be sitting at about $2000 (1500 as of now but I still have some extra peripherals to order next month..water cooling AIO for CPU, new fans, M.2 sata and a couple HDDs) so i'm budgeting in around 1000 for GPU/monitor if the 980 Ti will handle 4k.. if not I was assuming 1300-1500 GPU and the 500 on monitor.. I recently got a large increase in hours i'm working so I basically have about 600 or more a month just sitting around after bills.. Figured I would finally build the computer I want, not what my budget allows..

Hmm, ok well then perhaps i'll look into an x99 platform if/when i go to two 980s...
Just to save some $ up front I think i'll go to a single 980Ti for my first steps into 4k. Then maybe when I want more (MORE POWERRRRRR!) i'll go for another 980Ti and the x99+5820k since going to this MB/CPU will put another 500-600 out of my wallet on top of the 600+ for the second GPU, on top of the PSU upgrade to run SLI XD.

I can always use the skylake setup I got as a secondary comp since if I do this i'll have a MB/CPU/RAM/GPU/PSU all laying around after upgrades, as well as probably a spare case since I don't want a mid-tower if i'm running SLI, I want more space and more air-flow.

Thanks very much for the help.

Dude, just get 980ti, the 4K thing is not ready yet and will not be ready for years.

I know people on blogs always talk about it, Linus on YouTube games in 4K and all that. But every month Steam releases actual hardware statistics of people who use Steam (75% of all video games are played thru steam, either purchased or run thru it)

As of last month, 0.07% of all people use a 4K resolution, less than 1%. This is going to shock you but the market at large just now starts using 1080P to the max.

Here, see for yourself

http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/

Look under primary display resolution.

Your system will be 3-4 years old until you will be able to buy a game that is developed with a 4K resolution in mind, it's waaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too early.
