I'm just aiming for a PC able to last a good few years, running games on mid-high settings with no problem. At the moment I play Skyrim, LoL and Borderlands 2. Thanks.

Solution
Yeah you can just drop the TP-Link wired connection thing. Your motherboard already has an ethernet connection and a decent one at that (Intel based).

Save that $8, buy a big mac combo or something.

First off, drop the network adapter, this motherboard already has an ethernet port. Unless you're trying to use WiFi?

Second thing, I would switch that GPU with the AMD R9-280X, they're roughly the same price, but on benchmarks for some games, the R9-280X scores higher,

Next thing, that's probably overkill on the RAM, I personally think 16 GB is probably too much. 8 GB should be more than enough unless you plan on doing a lot of 3D work or Video editing or something. I would say drop down to 8 GB RAM, and then use the savings and put that towards a better GPU. Like an extra $100 saved from the RAM could step you up into the GTX 970 video cards and that'll be good for medium-high settings for years to come. Versus the GTX 760 which plays most games of this year and last year at medium to high.

Sorry, I don't quite understand that. Are you saying I don't need the wired network adapter? (Im stoopid >.< )

Alright:

1. I've heard that about the RAM but I wasn't sure if the 16GB would help/be necessary in a few years time.

2. Was considering this, but I've heard that overclocking can damage your parts (I'm new to the concept)

3. Yeah I might go for a 970 (again, destroying budget, but worth right?)
Would appreciate some advice on the following 970's. This is from the parts list of the store im likely to buy it all from.
4G GTX 970Asus STRIX - $529
4G GTX 970 Gigabyte OC (WF3OC) - $475
4G GTX 970 Gigabyte (G1 Gaming) - $499
4G GTX970 ACX 2.0 EVGA - $499
4G GTX970 Gigabyte-OC M-ITX - $519
Is there much difference in performance for these, and is it worth the price difference?
Thanks

1- well consoles only have 8gb of TOTAL ram so i dont think games will start needing more any time soon

2- well using a high amount of voltage without good cooling will damage it how ever if u play to do a light OC something like 4ghz u will be fine

3- it is up to you really all GTX970 are over engineered even the stock cooler is more than enough

just avoid the GTX970 M-ITX your case is big enough to handle all the other long cards

So to summarize:
4690k, 4G GTX 970 Gigabyte (G1 Gaming), and 8GB RAM.

Other than that - it's all good?
