Hi,
The situation is this. I haven't upgraded my system in years and I'm about to take the plunge, so I'm looking to get some advice on a few things.
First, only my hard drives from my old system are worth keeping. Nothing else is even close to VR ready and when you realise you need a new cpu, gpu, motherboard and so on then a new system is the only option.
I don't have unlimited finances, but I can spend somewhere between £1000 and £1500 to get a decent, future proof for a few years, system.
Most likely I'm going for an i7 - 6700 chip and around 16GB RAM. I'm not sure on a motherboard or anything else, but assume mid range. The big problem decision is the graphics card.
I don't play fps type games, but I do play Skyrim type games, although I don't think my gaming would challenge a VR ready card. However I do use a Samsung UE65JS9500 4K television for gaming on, rather than a monitor, so I'm not sure what difference that might make.
I'm planning on Vive as the most like VR system I'll get.
So, the question is should I go for a 980ti graphics card, wait for the new nvidia cards, wait and see if the Titan drops in price when the new cards come out or start thinking Sli?
I'm open to other suggestions, for other components/builds/variations as well.
Thanks
