I currently have a HP Compaq 8200 Elite Mini-Tower, which has the HP 1495 mainboard (Q67 Sandy Bridge). The main shortcomings of this system, for me, are:

1) It only has two SATA 3.0 headers (+ two SATA 2.0 headers). I could use four SATA 3.0 headers, one of which should be eSATA capable.)
2) It has 4x USB 2.0 headers (I could use 6x USB 3.0 headers)
3) Being an HP system, it's not overclockable.
4) the selection of expansion slots is too limited (only 2 long PCI-e, one short PCI-e, and one obsolete AGP slot) I could use 3x long PCI-e and 2x short PCI-e slots.

I'm on a tight budget, so can anyone recommend a cost-effective motherboard upgrade? If there something that will fit my HP 8200 Elite MT case and suit its 320W PSU, or my similar-dimensioned HP Compaq Presario CQ5302UK case+320W PSU, it would greatly help, as my budget is tight and I like both of these case+PSU combinations, because they are quiet and have ideal dimensions for my needs.

Many thanks..

The Q67 Chipset is a 2011 model.

The particular motherboard you have does not use standard electrical connections. This is done to make it more difficult to do what you want to do and instead purchase a new HP system. I am referring to the motherboard 6-pin power connection.

I suggest buying a bare PC case to use a retail boxed motherboard. Its unfortunate that you don't have much money to put into such a project.

I suppose you could reuse your case. Retail boxed motherboards don't use the HP front panel connector, so you would likely need to remove the wires from the connector.

Thank you very much for the above. Wow! I am surprised at the low cost of that motherboard - and the CPU, for that matter (on eBay, at least)...
