Approximate Purchase Date:
Within about a month

Budget Range:
2000-2500

System Usage from Most to Least Important:
Workstation-compiling-some 3D and video work, Home server,

Are you buying a monitor:
Not at the moment

Parts to Upgrade:
new build, but will be using my hard drives which are recently RMA'd so pretty fresh out of the box. Will probably get a top notch SSD in about a year

Do you need to buy OS:
No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
www.pccomponentes.com

Location: City, State/Region, Country -
Malaga, Spain

Parts Preferences:
I don't play favorites. My past builds have been budget builds and have been quite great, each has lasted me between 4-5 years.

Overclocking:
Very unlikely. Electricity is quite expensive here. Much more cost effective to layout for higher end hardware and run it nice and cool.

SLI or Crossfire:
Maybe down the road. Video requirements aren't top priority

Your Monitor Resolution:
2560x1440
1600x1200
Will be getting a 4k end of year to replace the old trusty Dell

Additional Comments:
I'm especially interested in the 3 following factors.
- Great cooling
- Noise reduction
- Size (I have an architect's desk at home and want to place it on the side saddles if at all possible.) That was the main reason to go with the ASRock mobo rather than the Zenith Extreme

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading:
It's time. I work on my machine and it's also the home media center as well as and the configuration is showing its age.

Total build cost is €2249.

While I recognize that performance wise this machine is a bit above my real requirements I also know that I'm not going to buy another one for 4-5 years so I'm ok with spending to future proof. a bit.

Some additional thoughts to add.

- I chose the 1920x because of the higher single thread speed. Cost wasn't a factor, 1950x just
didn't make as much sense.

- I know nothing about cases personally but the once I selected comes with very high and I like the aesthetic. It also isn't nearly as big as the other ATXs a I was considering coming in at 44cm in height as compared to around 55cm for some other models.

- I also know little about motherboards. I had read initially that the ROG Zenith Extreme was by far and away the best option but reading the specs I don't see the ASRock really that far behind. On newegg and other sites I've complaints about the manufacturing (broken boards etc) with respect to the Gigabyte x399. That being said I've had Asus boards in most of my builds and have never had an issue. My current build has an MSI which has been just perfect.

- Regarding memory, the board specs show that that 3600, 3200, 3000 are all OC memory. I'm not sure what that means exactly but does make me ask if stock 3600 ram is compatible. I based this selection on the RAM that some blog used in their benchmark and quality to price ration. That being said, I'm not an expert on latency so if there's a better option I'm all for it.

Well that's about it. Would really appreciate any recommendations from the peanut gallery! :)

Solution
The g3 is designed to accommodate the latest Intel cpu sleep states. And minor improvements may be. Nothing much in terms of circuitry. So either is fine.

If you want silence, the 460x is not a great choice. It looks good, however its airflow is less than amazing (those tempered glass panels arent exactly perforated!). THe Fractal design define R5 has great airflow, as does the NZXT S340 and H440!

Ur cpu and mobo choices are OK.
Go for 4x4gb to utilize the quad channel memory.
And go for either 3000/3200 speed. The price premium for higher speeds isn't worth the performance gains.
What about cooler? If you want to overclock, get the Enermax liqtech tr4 240/360
If you are OK with the stock speed and don't mind much about overclocking, get the noctua NH u14 tr4 edition.
The power supply you listed is way above what you need. A quality 650w or a 750w just to be comfy is enough. Look at the evga g2/g3, seasonic focus plus, g series or x series, corsair rmx or txm to name a few.
The NZXT h440 suggested above indeed is a great case.
Y don't u have a look at the Radeon pro wx 5100 for your professional work tasks?

Thanks for your comments.

I'm going with your recommendation for the power supply, I had a feeling I was shooting a bit high there. I see the G2L and G3 are the same price. Is one better than the other?

As far as RAM goes I put up the wrong link, I'm going 4x8, not 2x8.
