Hi everyone, I'm hoping to make my first PC.
From the research I did I eventually have come up with this build:

Processor - Intel Core i7 4790
SSD - Crucial BX100 250GB
Hard Drive - Seagate 1TB
CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 103
Power Supply - XFX TS 550w
RAM - Corsair Kit 16GB DDR3
Graphics Card - Asus GTX 970 Turbo 4GB GD5
Motherboard - MSI H79-G43

+
Case - ATX Nox CoolBay VX Zero
Monitor - Asus 24’’ VS247HR 2ms VS247HR

I'm going to use the PC mainly for Compositing in After Effects, Gaming and probably 3D Animation.

Will it work for what I'm hoping to do with it?

Additional info:

The budget is around €1000 (not including monitor, case etc)
I'm buying from a Portuguese store since I'm moving there. The link: www.Globaldata.pt

Thanks!

If you do not want to overclock and you are going to add a GPU, then the Xeon 1321 v3 is a much better choice for your needs. That would also allow for a different, cheaper motherboard, and you would not need a CPU cooler, although it would not hurt and is modestly priced.

And I'm thinking of replacing that GTX 970 Turbo for a GTX 970 Strix because I don't want to use multiple GPU's, would you recommend that?

I don't understand this. Both choices are similar, equivalent GPUs.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($237.99 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 103 43.1 CFM CPU Cooler ($49.98 @ Newegg)...
If you want to overclock, and it looks like you do, I would want a motherboard with much more robust power phases that the one you have selected. An appropriate board will cost another 50 euros from that site maybe even more.

That's a good system. Unless your software takes advantage of CUDA, that GPU is probably more than you need, but maybe you know better from experience.

Thanks!

I'm actually not planning to overlock (the CPU is supposed to be i7 4790 without the k), is the motherboard fine then?

If you are going overseas, I'd do my research and see how much you could save with US parts. CPU, RAM, GPU, SSD, HDD, are all compact and light enough to go in luggage.

Solution

Thanks for all the help!

The Xeon E3 1231 v3 has been recommended to me before, but unfortunately they don't sell them at the computer stores in the neighbourhood. Maybe you know a site where I can order the Xeon E3 1231 v3 in Europe, or maybe even Portugal.

But if I can get the Xeon I'm pretty sure I'll use this build since it fits my needs and is cheaper than my original one.

And about the GPU's, I searched on the internet and found that the GTX 970 Turbo was best for SLI or something and since I was not planning to do that I figured it might be better to get the GTX 970 Strix instead, I might be wrong though.

One more question, should I get any extra cooling?

Get the Xeon mail-order out of state before you go, $238 is a lot less than 260 euros, and take it with you. PCPartPicker will identify possible sources. Super Biiz is the best place at the moment, But Newegg can do $258.

Don't worry about the specific 970. Read the reviews. The Styrix is good. Each model has slightly different power, noise, cooling, and speed.
