Hi everyone,

I was wondering if this rig look ok? Not sure if i should go with the i72600K or the i52500K. From cpubenchmark.net (http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php) the i7 looks to be better. But I see quite a few specs with the i5.

First, fill out this form. It makes it easier for us to help you.

On the subject of i5 vs i7, the i5 is enough if you're mostly using the system for gaming. The i7 is clocked slightly higher and has hyperthreading. You can eliminate the clock advantage with overclocking, and hyperthreading won't help you in games. Where it does help is in multitasking and processor-intensive applications like video editing.

You'll want an aftermarket CPU cooler if you plan to overclock.

You also don't need SATA III hard drives. They won't give any noticeable advantage over SATA II.

I would get 2 Samsung spinpoint F3 1TB drives instead, faster and cheaper.

The vengeances are a nice memory kit, but the heatsinks are really tall. If you intend to overclock the 2500k you will need an aftermarket HSF to do so.
Those often come on top of the memory slots and tall heatsinks will cause clearance issues. So maybe check for a set from Corsair, Gskill, Kingston or mushkin with the same 1.5V CAS9 1600mhz specs with lower heatsinks.

To OC the default bang for buck HSF solution is CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ from amazon ~$30. The high end being Notua NH-D14 ~$80.
And n+1 things in between.

If you intend to SLI at some point, I highly recommend a 750W or 850W PSU. The corsair HX750 and HX850 are great.

Hey Coleam45 and rvilkman,

First, thanks for the form link. I will definitively use it in the future.

I will most likely be going for the i5 since I can overclock and not doing much video editing

I also went for low profile memory and a HSF suggested.

Below is a revised build, what do you think now?

Thanks again for the advice!
