Hello, everyone I've been considering getting a new GPU because my current one just doesn't seem to hold up too well with games nowadays.

My current rig is:
-i5-9600k CPU
-1070 Ti Rog Strix (GPU)
-Z390-E Rog Strix (Mobo)
-16Gbx2 DDR4 3200 MHz Vengance LPX (RAM)
-550FX Seasonic Focus Gold 80+ (Power Supply)
-Dell 27" LED QHD G-SYNC 1440p 1MS (Monitor)

The games I play are Apex, Warzone, WoW, PoE, D IV, DoTa 2, LoL... to name a few.

With current and future titles in mind but not worrying too much about future proofing my GPU, what would be the best upgrade for my machine?

Any advice and information would be greatly appreciated!

Whats ur budget?
If you really want a good upgrade you would have to get a new PSU. Smth like Corsair RMe 750W for around $100.
Thanks for the reply. I guess I'm looking for something that would allow me to get the most out of my monitor's specs and will be compatible with my current hardware without bottlenecking.

As far as budget I'm always a "best bang for your buck" kinda guy. Although I'm not opposed to spending more for the right reasons, I just don't know if my current setup would be able to get everything out of one of the current higher end cards.

But I'm hear to get all kinds of ideas and information. I appreciate you letting me know I would probably need to upgrade my PSU. That's something I didn't really consider and will have to factor into my decision.

If you are not into RayTracing, i would go for the RX 7800 XT, its a 16GB 1440P beast, capable of handling all the new titles at higher settings, for 'only' $500 (depending on the model). The RMe750W would be a good match for it. Its a $600 upgrade. If you are into RayTracing/GeForce cards, i would recommend the RTX 4070Ti, only 'problem' is that its around $800>, for generally the same performance as the RX 7800 XT, just has better RayTracing.

I've seem to come across compatibility/stability issues with AMD the past couple times I've went that route so I'm leaning more toward the Intel/Nvidia combo. The price tag for the 4070 Ti is a little higher than I anticipated spending, plus having to upgrade my PSU. Also, I feel like my current CPU would hold the 4070 Ti back quite a bit, I could be wrong though.

From what I'm gathering in order for me to make an upgrade to my GPU and keep my build relatively the same I'm going to have to sacrifice some frames and/or graphics. According to the Tom's Hardware GPU performance guide the 4070 Ti won't be able to reach 144 frames on Ultra graphics anyways, but that might be on the most demanding titles (I'm not sure of this). That and I read that ultra settings are advised against because the hit in performance is not worth the tiny visual gain you get.

I also read somewhere that the 6700 XT is the minimum I should consider when running 1440p 144Hz. So with that said I was looking at the 3070Ti, 70, 60 Ti and the 2080 Ti, 80 super, 80. Would my current setup work with all of these GPU's? What are the pros and cons of them? What kind of frames and graphics settings could I expect with the cards I mentioned? Would the investment be worth it over my 1070 Ti or would I be better off waiting a few more years and just upgrading to a whole new rig?

Thanks again for all the help and info!

That can happen with component, or configuration, you never have a 100% guarantee it will work, even if the spec sheet says it will. Components might come faulty from the manufacturing line, you never know. It can be a short/easy fix or a long/hard one. There is guarantee within any component, and no issues are 100% tied with AMD or Invidia/Intel. You can just assume that it will work, you never 100% know.

In no world would I pay $300 more for a card that has 5-10fps more than the Rx 7800 Xt, if im not reallllyyyy into RayTracing.

You wont get 144fps in AAA titles with neither of these cards, but when u think about it, do you really need 144FPS to enjoy a slow-paced AAA game? Im used to playing those kinds of games on 30fps, all low, if im able to get 60fps in AAA games, mate, im throwing a party right after im finished playing xD. For AAA titles you need 30fps for them to be fully playable, and 60 to be fully enjoyable. Both of these cards will deliver you 60FPS in all of the AAA titles, at Ultra settings 1440p. Worst case scenario you have to drop to high, which is not a big thing tbh. If we are talking about FPS games like Apex and Warzone, i dont know a single person who plays those types of games on ultra graphics, if the said person is taking the game seriously, that is. People spend $4k on a new gaming PC and play CSGO on all low graphics, simply because those games feel better being played that way.
Also, I feel like my current CPU would hold the 4070 Ti back quite a bit, I could be wrong though.
In AAA titles at 1440p Ultra settings GPU will be doing 90% of the work, i think you are fine with your 9600K in those games. For games that are more CPU demanding, like CSGO/LoL/Dota/Apex, you can only expect higher FPS since you upgraded the GPU.

Thats true

I would avoid the cards you mentioned here, if you have the money for a 7800XT/4070Ti, why not go for them? They are the newest ones, so you are buying more longevity also.
It will be a huge upgrade from your 1070Ti, especially in AAA titles. If its worth it or not money wise its up to you. I mean ur ending point is basically the same, whether you upgrade the GPU/PSU now, and upgrade CPU/MOBO/RAM now, or save more money and buy a completely new build, thats up to you.
I dont see cards like 7800 XT/ 4070Ti lacking in demanding games for atleast 5 years, and thats the worst case scenario.
