Advice On New Heatsink Fan

Feb 4, 2010
Hi Guys

I have recently upgraded my mobo and ram and would also like to upgrade my heatsink fan aswell.

My PC Specs are has follows:

Case - CM Scout
Mobo - Asus Striker II Extreme 790i Ultra
CPU - Q6600
RAM - 2 x OCZ 2GB DDR3 1333Mhz
PSU - OCZ 600w

I currently have the intel stock heatsink fan installed.

Any suggestions would be welcome

Thanks in advance

i'd go fo the coolermaster hyper 212 +

it's best price/penformance heatsink right now. for just $30 and it keeps my 4.0ghz 1.5v phenom ii 955 at 63C after 4 hours of prime95 torture.

the true 120 it's just a big named overpriced piece of hardware, for 3 times the price, it only gets you 2-3C cooler that the hyper 212, dark knight and other 30-40$ coolers.

plus if you pair it with a good set of 120mm fans the thing even beats the king of kings, the prolimatech megahalems, which is also extremely overpriced. think it's BS?, see here:

get it here:
Well, the Hyper 212 is about the best bang for the buck out there.

If you're super-concerned about noise levels, Thermaltake's Silent 775 do an excellent job cooling in my experience, and are almost unnoticeable.

But what are your temps like right now? If you're not running hot to begin with, there's really no reason to mess with it.
