My Current System
XP 2600
512 MG Corsair 3200ll Memory Dual Channel Set:
Asus 5900 Fx
Gigabyte 7nnxp Mobo

Im thinking on the following
3400 64
There's a lot of testing out there and everything I see for the money on amd cpu's its the best bang for the buck
Only drawback is the the older Single channel mem setup

1 Gig of ozc memory have not decided what series yet

xfx or leadtek 6800 gt not spending $200 extras buck for a few frames a sec + for an ultra card.

Msi, Gigabyte, Asus, Aopen any votes on the board
SATA has to be there with raid.

Please give me some input if you would.

Thanks in advance.

heya Icedout;

If it were me i would get the 3500+ 939-pin, also an Asus mobo, MSI has been having problems as of late, i cant in good conscience allow you to make that mistake if i can help it. Also get some Crucial Ballistix, its the best memory on the market period, if you want a review go see crashmans review on sysopt.net.

Adding to the motherboard list, highly anticipated DFI nForce3 motherboard should be available soon. Estimated time delivery at ZipZoomFly is 9-2-2004. Pair it with Crucial Ballistix or OCZ, if ya like, and should be good to go! Could also get a lower model Athlon64 and overclock.

the 3400 runs just a good as the 3500 and it saves me 78 to 88 bucks, the con is that the 3500 does support the dual channel if they ever do optimise its use besides in the memory benches, which I dont play but games I do. :) Last night I set up this list

asus a8v deluxe
3500 only becuase of dual channel support and it thermal shut down support on the asus when it sits idle. lowers the clock etc.. plus it supports 4 sata drives which I intend to do already have two 36 gig wd raptors.

ozc pc 3500 EL DDr 1 gig

Leadtek geforce 6800 gt 256 mg version extra $100 or more was not worth it for 3-5 frame increase.

what do you guys think so far?

Naw! Stick with socket 754. It looks like Asus spent a little extra time bringing the Nforce3 250G board out, to avoid the (very) small problems that bugged MSI. The Asus K8N-E Deluxe looks great.
No doubt 939 will be better once the bugs are worked out, just not enough better to warrant the wait. ( Dec or Jan release, $200+ pricetag is my guess)
