So I'm running a 1080, i7-7700k and 16gigs of RAM at the moment, and was thinking of ordering this pre-built:

https://www.chillblast.com/all-gami...c-1/configure?buildid=336386&showsummary=true

Alternatively, is it viable for me to just replace my 1080 and i7 and throw another 16gigs of ram into it?
I am honestly clueless about the GPU market right now, last i knew everything was still super hard to get, but that was around the 20x / 30x releases, so any advice is welcomed

Also I was comparing the Intel Core i5-13400 to the AMD Ryzen 5 7600. Do cores work differently for AMD or something? it says the i5 has 10 cores (6-pcores and 4-ecores) whatever that means, and the ryzen 7600 has only 6 cores ?

im definitley gonna bump up the CPU to either the i5 or 7600, and possibly the PSU as i feel like 650W is kinda low..

i would never recommend a prebuilt,
unless you are actually picking out all of the components yourself and just having a local shop build it for you.
there is almost always lots of cost cutting and generic hardware included.

any new system being built should be running DDR5 memory so just adding another 16GB of RAM wouldn't be possible.
it's not usually a good idea to mix sets of RAM anyway so just adding another 16GB to this current setup could end up causing unexpected issue(s).

you will usually get pros & cons from both camps of fanboys why one is better than the other.

but it's all about the performance you expect to see,
the deals you can currently find,
and a bit of personal preference which way you want to go.

the GTX 1080 & the i7-7700K were pretty top of the line 6-7 years ago but can't handle demanding modern games well.
what type of in-game settings are you looking to use and performance are you looking to see in the most demanding games?

there's plenty of RTX 4000 & RX 7000 series out there now.
prices have dropped quite a bit vs the last time i was shopping, now $1000-1500 can get you the very top of the line.
