Hello. I am new to Tom's Hardware Forums. This is my first post. I am building my first computer, an editing/gaming rig soon and I want to get some constructive criticism or recommendations on my parts list. I already have a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

CPU: AMD FX-8350
GPU: Nvidia GTX 760
CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 Liquid Cooler
Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 8 GB (1x8gb)
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120 GB
HDD: WD Caviar Black 1TB
PSU: Rosewill Hive 550 Watt 80+ Bronze
Case: Corsair 450d Mid Tower ATX
Optical Drive: Asus 24x DVD-RW
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit OEM
Wifi: TP-LINK N300 PCI Express Adapter

I am getting a single 8GB stick of RAM to maximize upgradeability in the future. I realize that running a single stick of RAM may slightly hinder performance, but I am planning on eventually having 32 GB of RAM. Also, is OD an acceptable abbreviation for Optical Drive? Just curious.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I suggest you do a search for reviews of the H60 cooler . It isnt better than a good air cooler and its noisier .

Use a dual channel RAM kit . 2 x4 gig is faster , and there is room to add more later and currently games are not using even 8 gig

Why windows pro? What features does it have that the cheaper versions dont have but that you need?

Make it Win 8 . Its simple to add a start button and uninstall the stoooooopid metro apps . Then it behaves like 7 but it is a bit faster and [ unlike win 7 oem ] you can reuse it in two more computers

For the cooler, I was going to get the Cooler Master 212 EVO, but I wasn't sure how well it would fit in my case. I will consider it again though. Like I stated in my original post, I am eventually planning on upgrading to 32 gb of RAM in the future, since this is going to be an EDITING/gaming build, and I can deal with the lower performance of 1 dimm for now. The reason I was going to get Windows 7 Professional is because Home Premium only supports up to 16 GB of RAM, and because I am going to be upgrading to 32 GB in the future, I need Professional to support that much RAM. I am considering getting Windows 8 with StartIsBack. Also, if I chose Windows 8, I wouldn't have to get the professional version because the Home Premium supports more than 32 GB of RAM, so that's another thing that Windows 8 has going for it. Thank you for the advice.
