Currently have
Ryzen 5 3600
MSI B 550M PRO VDH-WIFI
No CPU Cooler

Considering
Ryzen 7 5700X
Noctua NH-U12S

I'm in Canada and getting pricing from Amazon.ca
The 5700X is $173.98 on sale from $238.99 and the NH-U12S is $94.95 regular price

Opinions on this path? I "randomly" picked the cooler from pcpartpicker compatibility on the motherboard and cpu. If you can think of a better/equal option for cheaper I'd like that.

Same goes for the CPU as well.

If I should be considering a just as good combo that'll be lower cost, that's great.

Thanks in advance.

Noctua U12 is excellent. I have one.

But, there are other coolers for 20 to 40 less that do equally well. Thermalright Peerless Assassin? And at least one other. I can't recall exact names, but they are frequently mentioned on this forum. Probably dual towers rather than the single tower on the U12.

Make sure the cooler is short enough to fit in your case.

all depends on your GPU and what you want to play and budget !!

5800x3d or 5600x3d or 5700x3d noctua NH u12a would be a great combo ..

check out some of the Thermalright coolers too but mostly dual towers ..

But if going with noctua the U12a is the better cooler over the U12s with more heat pipes and comparable with the d15s !!
