-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Next week or two BUDGET RANGE: Around 700, can go more possibly, would like to stay around 700 though.

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT:Gaming, surfing web, that's about all I do

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Monitor possibly(I would like to upgrade though..I'm using a 19in widescreen 1440x900), mouse, keyboard, speakers, HDD, maybe case

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Newegg COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: US

PARTS PREFERENCES: AMD, ATI

OVERCLOCKING: Probably not, but maybe(ive never done it) Maybe SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe crossfire later on

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1440x900 is my current monitor, but I would like to upgrade

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I'm using a geforce 6800 and amd athlon 3200+ that is just not cutting it on current games...I gotta have better performance

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Idea(Open to any changes though)

ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 AM3 AMD 890GX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard 149.99
AMD Athlon II X4 635 Propus 2.9GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Model ADX635WFGIBOX 105.99
XFX HD-577X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card 159.99
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH 114.99

Powersupply..I assume my antec 350w is not enough, I'm tempted to get a 750w in case I go crossfire later on, but if I don't I assume I could save money by getting a 500w or 550w
Antec TruePower New TP-750 Blue 750W Continuous Power ATX12V V2.3 / EPS12V V2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE ... 119.99 $20 Mail in Rebate

Case..I currently have this case... http://www.lanaddict.com/rev/148/1/
I do not know if that is good enough...if not here is my idea...
Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 59.99

For a monitor, I currently have this... http://in.viewsonic.com/in/products/productspecs.php?id=321
I would like to go up to around a 22in like this, but it looks like I'll have to fork out the money.
Idea...
SAMSUNG P2370 High glossy black 23" 2ms(GTG) Widescreen LCD Monitor 229.95

I could be going overkill here, so please tell me if I am and could go cheaper on some things. If I include the case and monitor I have listed then this build is around a grand.

Welcome to the forum. Looks very nice! Yes you'll want the new PSU. You could get a 550W for a single GPU, but since you are getting a 5770 and a crossfire mobo, might as well get the 750W. I would get a new case, but that's partly because I like the 300's looks better :).

Should I maybe go with the 5850 and downgrade on the mobo and PS since I wouldn't have the crossfire option?
or go with two 4850 maybe? Is directx 11 that big of a deal?

I'm thinking about going all out and adding a 1tb hdd and a 50gb ssd as well as upgrading the mobo and cpu to...

ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor Model HDZ955FBGMBOX

I'd be spending 1500 and pretty much using nothing from my old system if I got everything I listed...would I need any cables for the Hard drives or anything? Extra cooling for the 955?

Would this be overkill? I would like to have a system that would last me awhile without having to upgrade. My current one lasted my years before I saw a need to upgrade.

And would it be better to use the 790 mobo I listed, or still stick with the 870 or 890?

Also, since I live in TN, i have to pay sales tax on newegg. Is there another site with similar prices and reputation as newegg where I would get to skip on sales tax. TN has a darn 9.9% sales tax

No the cables all come with the motherboard. I would get the Hyper+ I linked above to keep it nice and cool. The 955 is definitely an improvement. Regarding the mobo, there's not really any performance difference between the 700 and 800 series, but the 800 does have some nice new features like USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s which may come in handy since you'd like to keep the build for several years.

Yeah, they have warehouses in CA, TN, and NJ I think.
