I'm about to purchase the below build; an all new PC build. The current goal is to be able to game on the monitor on highest settings. While I'm not trying to future proof, I'm building to eventually expand to a multi-monitor SLI set-up. Also, I'm hoping to invest some now to be able to upgrade components incrementally. While its not that price-is-no-object, I have some flexibility with the below.

Biggest question is whether for now, the 980 is enough, or do I need to SLI another card. Secondly, hoping you'll steer me clear of obvious mistakes or "must-avoid" components. Concerned as well about noise and cooling.

Thanks in advance!

Solution
Don't go x99 for gaming. the 4790k fares BETTER is games than the 5930k. Its a lot cheaper too.
Rest of your build is top notch.
