Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: this week
Budget Range: $2000-$2500

System Usage from Most to Least Important: General usage, gaming, productivity mainly in Microsoft Office applications. Some video streaming.

Are you buying a monitor: In the future we will purchase a 1440 possibly Gsync

Parts to Upgrade: Brand new build so everything!!. I am building this system around this card I found and I believe to be a good deal. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1369702-REG/evga_08g_p4_6775_kr_geforce_gtx_1070_ti.html

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: BH Photo Video ( I am buying the card from here while on sale ), Amazon, Newegg but open to suggestions.

Parts Preferences: by brand or type:Intel CPU, Asus motherboard ( I like the Tuf Pro) EVGA, Coolermaster, NZXT, SeaSonic

Overclocking: No

SLI: No

Your Monitor Resolution: Currently have a 1080 but want to upgrade to 2K soon.

Additional Comments: Want to play Shadow of the Tomb Raider etc.. without stressing the system. Want a roomy but not huge case so Mid tower would be best. Want a case that is known for effective cooling and has good filters and at least some included fans. I would prefer an air cooler rather than a liquid cooler. Don't care about themes or bling but one tempered glass side window would be nice. Am leaning toward the i7 8700K or the i7-9700K. Want all components to be known for compatibility ie..everything will fit in the case, the memory will work with the motherboard , etc...

What abut the Asus TUF Z390? Any advantage? Also how do I find the "recommended" or tested compatibility for the memory modules for the Asus boards? Sorry for so many questions but it has been 10 years since I built a machine! Also I should have mentioned that I was hoping to get an IPS or VA monitor rather than a TN.

Don't really NEED a Z390 MB with a 8700K, not really any real difference that would matter, would stick with a Z370 MB. Unless you want a 9900K or 9700K CPU, then get a Z390 MB.

Go to the GSkill Website and it will have the MB's listed etc. However as long as you are getting good quality ram it will be fine, GSkill is excellent memory.

Ok so if I do add the i7-9700K with the updated Asus z390 TUF plus gaming wifi board, will everything else work? What about if I up the M.2 SSD to 500GB? I suppose I want to make sure the case, cooler etc will all work and temps will stay low. Thanks!

Yes, everything would work.

Well I really screwed that up! The card I wanted is no longer available at BH so back to the drawing board. Here is a link to what I have so far. I may consider the RTX 2070 but i wonder which model, make would be best for the rest of the build? I don't want to spend $600 but would be willing to go as high as $550 range given a good quality card with. I do not intend to overclock anything and would be wiling to go with a larger case and additional fans if necessary.
