Hi I am a noob, and apologies if I am supposed to post in a new member area first although I couldn't see one.

I recently built my first PC for over 10 years, I have an Asus rampage formula x48 with an E8400 E0 CPU, Tuniq 120 Tower and 4GB 1066MHz Geil RAM.

I have been using the Asus CPU level up feature to run at 3.52GHz but wanted more so I upped the FSB to 410.

I have been told that there are problems with programs reading the E8400 CPUs temperature and the only one that works well is REAL TEMP. Real Temp (With TJ max set to 95) is showing my system at 37 degrees when Idle and about 56 when running prime95, however when I upped the FSB to 410 my temperatures were getting to 70 when running prime, so I went back to 3.52Ghz.

I thought I would get much lower temps with the Tuniq Tower and also because I have an Antec 1200 case.

So I am a bit stumped as to how to make the temps lower, I have tried reapplying Artic silver after removing the old paste but still get the same results.

Can anyone give me any advice? and is there a definate app that will tell me the correct temp of the CPU?

Sorry for the long first post.

I use that app, i have that case along with the tuniq 120. I have a q9550 overclocked to 3.6ghz(2.8 stock) that idles at 27-30c and on prime95 full load i get up to 55c max temp. This is using realtemp tj max set to 100c.

You might need to correctly apply the artic sliver. I use the zalman grease. The first time i applied it my idle temps were in the 40c range and 65-70c under prime load and that was at stock cpu speed. I did a lot of research and i figured out that i put too much grease even when i thought i was putting too little.

If its not that, make sure the 4 screws on the tuniq are screwed in all the way. I tightened to the point where i couldn't any more and my fingers were in pain.

hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply, the tuniq is screwed in as tightly as possible although it was very fiddly because of the heatsinks for the northbridge and southbridge around the cpu area.

When I applied the Artic silver I did a line over the cores as directed and it should be the correct proportion.

My idle Tmps are 37 degrees whatever speed I run the cpu at (which I find strange) it's only when I start pushing it past 3.52Ghz that the temp seems to go a bit mental.

I did notice a slight curve to the plate at the bottome of the Tuniq but I wouldn't be confident in lapping it, I was wondering if I got the option fans for the Antec 1200 then this would help in cooling the CPU.

I have the optional fans installed, and honestly it will make only a few degrees of difference.

maybe a stupid question, but the tuinq is blowing the air up right?

I checked the HSF and there was a screw slightly loose so I tightend it. Now I running at 4GHz OCCT is giving stable results and my highest temp at full load is 59 degrees.
