G'day to all of you,

Recently I've realized that two small fan blades on my frontal RX 480 Strix have broken, meaning my PC vibrates like a jet engine. I've seen those replacement fans, however they take about a month to arrive - and seeing that I need to open my GPU to replace it, it voids my warranty.

However the guys down at my local tech shop offered me about 250 - 300€ for my 480. I was thinking about selling it off, buying a cheap card to wait until all this mining madness ends and then snag a new card.

Any suggestions as towards what I should do? I feel like asking because I'm not keen on waiting a month till a replacement fan arrives. I've already talked to my retailer and Asus, with them both stating that they wont send me a replacement, seeing as they cannot verify if it was defectous from start or if I broke it.

They offered you 250-300 for a used 480 with broken fans? I would certainly take that. In the US used fully functional 480s are going for 300-350 dollars, $350 is about 280 euros. So if you can get another equivalent GPU for the price you are selling the 480 for then I would absolutely do it. However look around before you do, GPU prices are absolutely ridiculous at the moment, might be a good idea to sell now then wait until prices go back down to buy another card.

300 for a broken fan card is a really good deal considering this is above msrp (which I assume you got if for).

Just get a cheapo r9 380 (goes for around 100) which is still a good card to game on and wait out the mining craze. Then snag yourself a cheap gpu once the collapse happens (got some hd 5870's for 30$ back in 2011 and they are still doing fine).

Yeah, managed to ultimately bargain my way up to 275 because I included the box in mint condition and all the accessories. The thing is, my original plan was on selling it off and then getting a 1070. However I've been suggested to buy a cheaper card like a 1050 ti or even a generation or two back, to wait till the goldrush ends and then snag a cheap newer generation card fast.

Just checked my local Cex store, they've got a regular FE 380 up for 100. I still own a 280 Dual - X, but I dunno if its dead or not.
