[SOLVED] Advice upgrading laptop

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place
Currently I can run most games but with some high intensity games such as Rust, I get a decent FPS on good setting but I get regular stutters, I’m fairly new to the hardware side of things but from I can see it could be my ram?
Specs:
Gtx 1060
8gb Ram (one stick 2666hz)
Intel i5-8300H
SSD 256mb
HDD 1tb
BUT, it’s all in a laptop, specifically ASUS TUF fx504
My question is, is my ram holding me back or something else, if so what upgrades should I do? Or just sell the laptop and build a desktop.
Overall it cost me around £900 and fairly new so may be able to get something round that back?
