be great full for any advice, thanks
Forgot to add the pc has custom made sleeves am I best getting another G2 or would as I’ve stated be ok getting say a G3 or P2 don’t want to buy the wrong one and end up blowing the pc up,also are refurbished psu’s any good, thanks again

unless it's the same model, you should install the new PSU with it's own cables. even if the connectors on the PSU end seems to match, it really does not mean they are wired the same. EVGA does not have a PSU fab and orders the production from different companies. So there could be a variance in wiring.

As a side note, as far as i remember, G2 comes with a 5-10 years warranty (depending on the model) so may be you can just RMA it.
