With a $1000 you should go with AMD not Intel.

You cannot use the AGP video card you picked out, no board in the last 3 years or so will have an AGP slot, you need a PCI-E version of it, it will probably be cheaper actually, and you only need the 512MB version, you only need 1GB of VRAM for 1920x1080 or higher.

CS4 will appreciate the i5 750 so i would suggest sticking with the intel build, it wont get you much advantage with the games, but encoding and photoshop work will be accelerated a bit.

Rather than that A-DATA kit which seems to require 1.65-1.85V(anything over 1.65V can damage the memory controller on the CPU) so you may not be able to get it stable, the Gskill ECOs use only 1.35V and are just as fast. If you want to try OCing their low voltage will give you plenty of headroom to do so.

thanks for the info. NOw how is the mbo i sugested, and was looking at the charts and thinking about going to the I7-930 but what mbo

If you are going to go for an i7 930 you will need an X58 board which will cost you quite a bit more, i suggest sticking to the P55 board and going up to the i7 860 instead, it will keep the overall platform costs significantly lower.

Here's and AMD build. Under $1k is almost always AMD.

*EDIT* That's the maxed build, if you don't need the 5850 take it down to a 4850/5770.
