First, this is my first time actually posting on this forum, if I put my post in the wrong category then I apologize and ask that someone please point me in the right direction. Thank you.
So I will try to keep my description as short as I can, but I am looking for help and advise for a friends phone.
I am trying to help a friend out with their broken Galaxy S6 edge. The screen is broken (black and as far as I can tell unresponsive to touch - though difficult to determine completely without being able to see), all external system buttons are responsive (volume, home, lock screen) as on occasion I can hear the system sounds associated with the buttons.
They do not have USB Debugging enabled on the device, so I cannot mirror onto a computer with any software that I know of.
I had the idea of buying an OTG hub. One of the connectors that has an HDMI and a USB port on it and using the HDMI connector to mirror onto my computer monitor (24" tv) and a usb mouse to control the phone. Then to go in and enable usb debugging. Then I would be able to mirror to my computer and dump all of their picture/video files onto a usb for her.
Anyway, my issue is that to my knowledge, ever since the Android Lollipop OS the Android phones have not supported wired HDMI mirroring...is this true or am I remembering something wrong.
Because if that is the case then I am totally out of ideas for this phone and am open to suggestions.
I am not a tech guru, most of what I know is self taught and learned from research as issues came up. So I hope that someone with a little more savvy can help me out
Is there any way for me to mirror the screen onto a pc/TV/Samsung Smart TV/anything so that I can at least see the damn thing. I need to see it to bypass the lock screen.
If I could only get past the friggin lock screen or just see the lock screen, then I could fix this so much easier. Just seems like every solution I find there is another roadblock.
NOTE: I do have the lockscreen PIN. Friend gave it to me, but I cannot put it in as I cannot see the screen/touch the screen (cant use usb mouse cause I cannot see the screen)
Anyhelp would be much appreciated,
Thank you.
