Hello friends,
First i would like to thank all those who already answered my queries in previous posts. I'm about to by a new workstation just to increase the After Effects performance. Please help me find the best hardware configuration possible for AE CS3.
I'm stuck between these three:
DUAL XEON
i7 Xtreme Edition
SINGLE XEON Xtreme Edition X5600 series.
If i go by CPU benchmarks then i7-920 2.67 Ghz outperforms XEON E5500 series. I'm comparing them as they come in same price range.
Can u tell me if AE prefers DUAL XEON over Single CPU when it comes to rendering & building previews.? Is there any advantage in going with DUAL CPUs ?
Finally whats your take on this:
- Single i7 x980 extreme edition - 6 Cores= $1,089 (DESKTOP)
Intel® Core™ i7-980X Processor Extreme Edition (12M Cache, 3.33 GHz, 6.40 GT/s Intel® QPI)
v/s
- DUAL XEON - E5620 (x2) - 8 CORES= $ 1,200 (WORKSTATION)
Intel® Xeon® Processor E5620 (12M Cache, 2.40 GHz, 5.86 GT/s Intel® QPI)
v/s
- SINGLE XEON X5660 - 6 CORES = $1,400 (WORKSTATION)
Intel® Xeon® Processor X5660 (12M Cache, 2.80 GHz, 6.40 GT/s Intel® QPI)
