Just think- a full thirty minutes of staring at a fly caugt in
someone's eyelashes.

It's not that they have much to work with- the only thing going for
that series was the artwork, which was kind of OK. I predict though,
that this movie will be AT LEAST as good as the D&D movie. Also that
someone will like it enough to start a thread titled "WHat would Aeon
FLux be in [WoD/Exalted/random WhiteWolf product]".

Hard to say regarding the original anime series on Liquid Television,
since one of Peter Chung's key ideas was "You never know WHY all this
stuff is going on or whether she is good or evil. It's just all this
inexplicable violence."

Not content with defiling AEon Flux, Keanu is ALSO being cast as John
Constantine.

Shane, Hollywood needs your tough love. Get to it.

Hey, Keanu Reeves ain't bad. He gives the majority of his income to
cancer research. And often a good bit of the minority to fellow cast
and crew members. I'd honestly rather see him a star than an actor
with, y'know, /talent/, but who spends all his money on big mansions and
cars and things.

I don't think he's going to be in Aeon Flux. I was referring to
Constantine with my hate-filled comment about Keanu.

You mean it'll have dialogue and, possibly, motion?

Obviously Aeon Flux would be Æon, a.k.a. Trinity. I mean, they're so
similar as it is...

Or am I the only one that remembers that (threatened) lawsuit?

I don't know how to respond to that. It's hard to condemn someone who
gives his money to cancer research. On the other hand, I like to see
actors that can act.

You could probably console yourself with the knowledge that he only
gives the money to cancer research because his sister has cancer and he
kinda wants a cure to be found for her. That could be viewed as
somewhat selfish. Except also kinda not.

There was an interview. His financial philosophy is something like
"With just the money I have now, I could live comfortably for the rest
of my life. I don't need any more, so I'm not keeping it."

I really like Keanu Reeves. I just wish he hadn't been cast as John
Constantine.

Okay, how about we agree not to condemn him as a human being, but to
damn him to the nine hells as an actor? That seems like a fair
compromise, since being a decent human being in no way makes him a good
actor.

Toss in people with impossible body proportions, some really excellent
dialog, and a very strong sense of "morality play on acid", and you have the
series, in a nutshell.

He's a good person. But a bad actor.

There's nothing wrong with that. I know a few of em.

But how they made him John Constatine and set Hellblazer in LA? God I hate
that.

I find that I can't possibly blame Keanu for that, though. If the
producers are so out of touch with the material that casting Keanu as
Constantine even came up in a brainstorming session, then the project
was doomed to failure from the very beginning. They're plainly idiots;
if they hadn't cast Keanu, they'd have made some other horribly stupid
mistakes. I'd even wager that casting Keanu as Constantine is probably
one of the smaller mistakes that will be made during the production of
the movie.

So I look at it like this: Clearly, the movie was horribly doomed from
the start. At least they found a way to put some of the proceeds
towards cancer research.

I remember it as well.

I also remember how stupid it was, and how I wish that Paramount would pull
the stick out of their ass when it comes to words found in the dictionary.

I recall him purchasing motorcycles for the stuntmen from the Burly
Brawl scene.

He's surprisingly laid-back and kind, from all accounts.

Yeah.

For the effects people from the first Matrix movie, he just gave them
money. Something like half a million each.

Originally it was Nicholas Cage. Both of these choices, to me, rank up
there on "Dumb Casting". Worse than Steve Buschemi as Mirror Flag. Not
quite as bad as Nicholas Cage as Superman.

I dunno. I could actually see Nicholas Cage doing John Constantine, if
the team were really, really set on making him an American. Not the
best choice, no, but better than Keanu.

I know what Trinity would have been without Aeon Flux.

It would've been Aeon.

Apparently "Jude Law" in "London" never crossed ANYONE'S mind.

And just think. I got miffed when Hellboy moved the BPRD HQ from CT to New
Jersey. And that's only a two hour drive.

Except that he *is* a good actor - in "The Devil's Advocate".

So what's the key? Always make him work with Charlize Theron and Al Pacino? 😉

Keanu Reeves plays "confused" well. He works well in situations where
his character is confused.

After his training for The Matrix and its sequels, he could probably
stand to work in more action movies, too.

Hard-bitten drama is not his forte, but then, I doubt the John
Constantine movie is actually going to be hard-bitten drama.

Actually, we were discussing this last night. I liked him in The Devil's
Advocate and November Rain. In both cases, he worked with Charlize
Theron. So, the current theory is that Charlize's ass-kicking-ness just
rubbed off on him at the time, rather than him actually doing well.
