Long story short, I have to buy a laptop for someone. In college so money is tight and was thinking of getting a refurbished laptop since they're cheaper. I'm sure the scuffs wouldn't be a problem, but I'm worried of issues popping up since it's refurbished.

If anyone has experience with refurbished laptops any knowledge or advice would be great.

My mom has an old refurbished dell latitude laptop I bought for her like two years ago still works great but I had to replace the battery after the first year (which I kind of expected). It actually came with an old intel sata 2 SSD, they said it had a 5400rpm hdd in the description so I was pleasantly surprised.

I would buy from a trusted seller and make sure it has some kind of warranty or a good return policy in case it is no good.
I have bought both a three year old refurbed Dell PC and HP laptop from NewEgg for my mother. Just make sure you buy from a reputable company like NewEgg, Rakuten (formerly Buy.com), and Amazon (or Amazon-backed vendors). Both came in excellent condition. The PC was almost like new. The laptop had some keyboard wear, but a simple $15 OEM keyboard purchase fixed that.
