Ummm. Depending on which interpretation of the Warp concept you use, Warp 9 is actual 729 times 'c'.

The entire warp concept was actually FAR too slow for the events of the show. There was an episode of ST:Enterprise, about 5 or so eps into the first season, where they went to a specific star, and actually mentioned events that had occurred in earlier eps, and exactly how long after the first ep's initial flight it had been... and if you did the numbers, the ship could only have gone *exactly* the distance from Earth to the given star in the time frame allotted, and not done any of the needed side-jaunts that they allude to had to have happened before.

In general, warp speed is barely adequate for the needed pacing of the show "between episodes".
