I was having unrelated issues with my video card. for the time being, i swapped to integrated graphics.
after i took the card out and reassembled everything, i was having sound issues.
in windows it initially only listed digital audio s/pdif, not the standard high definition audio device that is normally there when my headset/etc is plugged in.
i've tried reinstalling the drivers & restarting and there was no change. additionally, FYI, this refers to the back audio jacks, not the front ones, so the pin getting disconnected by accident from the MB shouldn't be an issue as far as i know..
i looked around in windows device manager and it doesn't appear to be a driver issue, everything is normal there.
after replugging the jacks in back and forth maybe ~5 times, it now detects the headset (registered as "speakers" in windows) but i still get no sound coming out...
