Hi,

Just finished putting together a new computer. I have all the hardware in place. Its been a while since I did my last build and I was unclear as to what to do next. Do I load the BIOS CD and update BIOS? Do I go ahead and install OS? What are the steps after I have all the hardware assembled? Steps?

First, boot the machine to ensure it can reach the BIOS. Then load the OS and install drivers. Then begin the update process for the OS (and bios if you wish). Lastly, install any software that you want.

question: graphics card came with CD.........after installing OS should I load CD and update drivers or just let windows find the updates? I never know which to do. Also, some say to update the BIOS right away before loading the OS.........are there things I should do before loading the OS?

Your machine will display off of the graphics card upon first boot (or it should).

The CD will contain old drivers, you're better off downloading the drivers from AMD or Nvidia's website.

If you're unfamiliar with flashing/updating BIOS, I would caution you to be very careful while doing it. A mistake will require an RMA or purchasing a new BIOS chip.
