I tried to install an aftermarket CPU fan, and now my PC only flickers for a split second and then shuts off. At first, it would be in a boot loop, and I kept getting an error "55" on my Z77 Extreme4, which was that memory couldn't be read. The boot loop would occur with any combination of RAM, and would only stop when all memory was removed, but then another error number would show up on the motherboard (I think 53) and then it would just boot for a minute with nothing loading, and then shut down.
After that, I did some research and found out it could be the CPU being seated incorrectly, so then I removed the CPU and noticed that a number of the socket pins were bent, as well as there somehow being bits of dust or cotton swab?) between some pins, so I attempted to remove it with tweezers, which possibly bent them more.
Now after putting the CPU and cooler back and booting, the computer simply turns on for a split second like I said in the beginning. I've done the PSU test with a paperclip, and it confirmed that my PSU was in good condition, so that couldn't be the issue.
Is there any way I can resolve this without replacing my motherboard? Or is there at least another motherboard I could use of the same chipset that is not as pricey as another Z77 Extrmee4? It would have to be able to support the GTX 1070 and at least 16 GB of RAM...
