[SOLVED] after installing drivers half of my screen is black with a line of random color

the first problem i ran into was windows 10 not seeing my graphics card no matter what i did so i figured it was a driver issue, after pulling out the handy dandy manual for my gpu i downloaded the recommended driver which was nvidia drivers 466.27, but during the installation process it said "This NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows. Could not find compatible hardware" so i tried the newest drivers i could find for my gpu and it was nvidia drivers 496.13 (also tried 472.12 same exact thing happened with this one as 496.13) the installer for this driver found my gpu and successfully installed but now half of my screen is black with random colors.image of screen

i fixed, someone on reddit told me to change the display cable, switched it to hmdi and screen with the 496.13 works fine
