One question comes to mind after seeing XWW2 Mod and the effects the
dev team added. If the BF1942 Engine can handle those great
smoke/explosion effects, why did EA/Dice make them so lame. Is the
extra effects a major difference in online gameplay as far as Lag and
such? If not then EA/DICE Should hire the people That made XWW2 Mod ,
maybe they can learn a few things.

Well, Battlefield 1942 is getting on a bit. When it was introduced,
the average graphics card was a lot less powerful, than is the case
now. So they probably kept down the effects by design. Still, when I
saw BF42 the first time I was blown away by what was then great dust &
explosions effects.

Yeah, don't get me wrong BF1942 Is a great game...the only thing I
really did not like was 5 bullets having to hit your enemy for a kill.
But Your point about the graphics cards makes sense. Soon all effects
in games will be more Realistic to the point where the only limitation
will be the CPU Capability.
